For a bedroom, use Night mode: it runs at the lowest fan speed so the unit stays unobtrusive while it pulls moisture out of the air overnight. Keep the door closed and the unit a little away from the wall so air can circulate on all sides.

For drying laundry, switch to Laundry mode, put the airer in a small closed room and place the Dry 2000 in the same room. A sealed space matters more than anything else, because open doors let humid air back in. Expect the tank to need emptying during a big load, unless you connect the drain hose.

For day-to-day condensation control, leave it in Auto mode in the room where windows steam up. Run it for a week or two before judging results, because walls and furnishings hold moisture and take time to dry out.

If the tank fills too often, fit the supplied drainage hose and run it into a sink, a bath or an outside drain. This turns the 2.5-litre tank from a daily chore into a non-issue.

Finally, clean the air filter regularly. A clogged filter reduces airflow and makes the unit work harder for less result.

A few settings habits make a real difference. Aim for a relative humidity of roughly 40 to 60%: below that the air feels dry, above it mould and dust mites do well. The castors and integrated handle matter more than they sound: a dehumidifier is only useful if you will actually move it to where the moisture is, and a machine you have to carry will end up parked in one room.

The water-handling design is worth a mention too. Condensate collects in a semi-transparent 2.5-litre tank, and when it is full the unit stops and blows off any remaining water so nothing drips as you slide the tank out. If you would rather never empty it, the supplied hose lets the water drain away continuously.

In the UK, the reason most people buy a unit like this is not a flooded cellar but ordinary household moisture: breathing, cooking, showers and drying clothes indoors. A 12L machine is sized for exactly that, which is why it makes more sense than a 20L unit for a flat or a bedroom.
